It’s Monday! What are you reading (April 1 2013)

itsmonday“It’s Monday! What are you reading?” is a weekly event hosted by Sheila at Bookjourney to share with others what we’ve read the past week and planning to read next.

Currently reading:
Have mother, will travel – Claire and Mia Fontaine
For an upcoming book tour

Alif the unseen – G. Willow Wilson
A rather different read, but pretty interesting so far.

The Year of Pleasures – Elizabeth Berg
A library e-book (Kindle version). I’m just loving Berg’s writing.

The elephant’s journey – Jose Saramago

Mirror of the World: A New History of Art – Julian Bell
Erm, yes, still.

Late for Tea at the Deer Palace
A fascinating memoir about a family’s century in Iraq. I’m loving it so far!
Looking forward to:
Getting over my cough and finally getting a good night’s sleep – it’s close… I can feel it!

More home cooking from my mum. We picked up some pomfret from the Asian supermarket last night. I love steamed pomfret!

What I read last week:

Wide Awake (Fairest #1) – Bill Willingham, Matthew Sturges
It’s been a while since I’ve read a Bill Willingham graphic novel – sadly, my library doesn’t have a complete collection of Fables – so it was fun.

Regeneration – Pat Barker
A bit of a heavy read, but an excellent one.

A prayer for Owen Meany – John Irving
I spent the first quarter of this long book trying to figure out whether I should keep reading this. In the end, Owen Meany won me over (I didn’t quite like the adult Johnny Wheelwright).

What I reviewed last week
Griffin & Sabine – Nick Bantock
The last letter from your lover – Jojo Moyes

What are you reading this week?

  1. You have a lot of books going at once. I commend you! I think it would make my brain explode, lol. I hope that cough of yours goes away very soon!

    Have a great week 🙂
