It’s Monday! What are you reading? (February 17 2014)

itsmonday“It’s Monday! What are you reading?” is a weekly event hosted by Sheila at Bookjourney to share with others what we’ve read the past week and planning to read next.

It’s a day off for plenty of people. Not the husband. Thanks (company name) for not recognizing this holiday!

Other than that it’s business as usual but with one sick kid and one sick grandma. This is one bug that is taking a while to get rid of!

Sunny 1 – Taiyo Matsumoto

Looking for Alaska – John Green
Ohhhhhh!! Alaska is a girl. And not, you know, the state.

Ok that’s probably obvious to anyone who’s read even just the synopsis of this book. But for me it was more like, ok it’s about time I read something by John Green. Ok so The fault in our stars that everyone is talking about isn’t available through the e-book library, so what’s next?

Click. Download. Open e-book. Read.

Pumpkin muffins – I used this recipe from King Arthur Flour, using kabocha squash instead of canned pumpkin puree. And made one pumpkin loaf and ten muffins.

Green tea.

New Girl Season Two!

That Thing You Do! soundtrack. It makes me want to watch the movie again! Fun times.

Looking forward to:
Here’s hoping everyone gets better soon.

Last week:

coincidence coincidenceauth

I just finished reading J.W. Ironmonger’s Coincidence (known as The Coincidence Authority in the UK). And just loved it. I would say more but it’s part of a tour. I’m intrigued by how different the two covers are though! The top ocean-y one is the one I have, but I kind of prefer the UK version. Plus it seems like whoever designed it actually read the book. The US one is rather vague. Picturesque but vague.

Oh Edwidge Danticat, I love your name, and I loved this book. Hopefully I can put things together to write about this book properly!

Last week I posted:

Weekend Cooking: Shepherd’s Pie

Delphine; Hilda and the Midnight Giant; The Eternal Smile (an actual book review!)

Library Loot (11 February 2014)

What are you reading this week?

One Comment

  1. I agree completely about the cover for Coincidence. It’s very pretty, but it could be for a book about anything. The story was great, though! See you on the tour. 🙂
