“It’s Monday! What are you reading?” is a weekly event hosted by Sheila at Bookjourney to share with others what we’ve read the past week and planning to read next.
Wow what a weekend! The husband took Friday off (he had worked the previous weekend) and we took the kids to Happy Hollow in San Jose, a little amusement park and zoo – best for the under-five set, tried out Blaze, a new-to-us Chipotle-like pizza place. Get in line, pick your sauce, pick your cheese, pick your meats, vegetables and other toppings, pay, and wait just a few minutes (they say they quick-fire it for 180 seconds!). Not too bad! Mine had two kinds of mozzarella, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, grilled red peppers, artichokes, bacon, salami, fresh basil. I love how they had a good variety of vegetables to choose from.
On a bookish note, I did a solo trek to the library, grabbed some books, and bought some more at the book sale!
It’s 645. The husband’s at the train station, and I’ve got a few minutes before the kids start making noise! Better hurry!
Seraphina – Rachel Hartman
The Sea Garden – Deborah Lawrenson
Just had some toast and milky black tea for breakfast.
Water in preparation for a warm day (high of 32C/90F)
It’s just me and the kids today after my mother-in-law flew home to Singapore yesterday. It’s been a while since I’ve been by myself with the kids! So I made some pasta sauce yesterday and will just cook up some fusili to accompany it later.
Orange is the New Black Season 2. I’m on the last couple of episodes! I was trying not to binge watch but I guess that didn’t quite work.
What I read last week
Re-gifters – Mike Carey, Sonny Liew, Marc Hempel
The Goldfinch – Donna Tartt (here’s my post about reading this book)
Stuck Rubber Baby – Howard Cruse
What are you reading today?
