“It’s Monday! What are you reading?” is a weekly event hosted by Sheila at Bookjourney to share with others what we’ve read the past week and planning to read next.
Good Monday to you! If you had a long weekend celebrating fourth of July, I hope it was a good one! And if it was just a regular weekend for you, I hope it was awesome too.
On Friday, we decided to brave the traffic and the crowds at Gilroy Gardens, that adorable amusement park with the fruit and veg-themed rides. It was hot hot hot. And the queues were long but everyone had fun.
On the way home, we stopped by our favourite Japanese restaurant for dinner.
Chirashi was the perfect scorching-day dinner. Light and refreshing!
Then on Saturday, the Fourth of July parade! It’s our third year watching and the kids always have fun waving their flags, watching the fire trucks, motorbikes, cars, dancers, gymnasts, floats, martial artists and more.
But let’s get to the food. Among the very many things eaten last week were:
Homemade chicken curry Singapore-style, biriyani and stir-fried broccoli
Chow mien with lots of vegetables and mushrooms, eaten with fried tofu (not pictured) and oven-grilled mackerel
Lime yoghurt cake (recipe from Smitten Kitchen)
Bah kut teh (translated as “meat bone tea”), a garlicky peppery soup of pork ribs.
Eaten with youtiao or dough fritters, some stirfried vegetables and rice
After the parade, we had dim sum at Asian Pearl.
Followed by mango shaved snow topped with condensed milk (!) at Sno-Crave. Someone was thrilled!

You know what, I just read this but I can’t really remember it!
I posted:
What are you reading this week?
If you can’t remember Spiral Bound, maybe I shouldn’t read it. 🙂 That shaved snow looks so good!
