I’m taking part in A Month of Favorites (hosted by Traveling with T, Estella’s Revenge, and GirlXOXO) this December
Today’s topic is such fun!
The Most Unique or Most Memorable Book(s) Read This Year – not necessarily your favorite book because it could be memorable for how bad or how much you liked or disliked the characters.
Beauty is a Wound – Eka Kurniawan (my thoughts)
For being a very weird yet wonderful tome of a book that takes the reader through the major events in Indonesia’s history and also weaving in the supernatural, a family saga, and also, that cover (because it doesn’t have the back of an Asian woman or a fan or something else that always is used to symbolize ‘oriental’ or ‘exotic’)
Sharaz-De – Sergio Toppi
For its breathtakingly beautiful illustrations and his genius use of white space (my thoughts)
Ms Marvel Volumes 1 to 3 – G Willow Wilson, Adrian Alphona
For Kamala Khan
Showa: A History of Japan – Shigeru Mizuki
For making me wish I could put this in my history teacher’s hands when I was a teenager
Sorcerer to the Crown – Zen Cho (my thoughts)
For diversity in fantasy.
Fates and Furies – Lauren Groff
For the “ARGH!” and then the “WHATTTT??????”
What were some of your memorable reads of the year?
Love your reasoning for choosing the books.
Love it!!
Thanks for sharing.

LOL, I love your post. I’m also glad you mentioned Sorcerer to the Crown because I want it! Rebecca from Book Riot talked about it on the podcast and it sounds great.

I loved seeing your reasons. I haven’t read any of your choices but you’ve made me curious.
