The kids are off school for two weeks so we’ve got plans to visit the Tech Museum in San Jose with friends later today, and a playdate with another friend tomorrow. Meanwhile, a friend has been staying with us as his water heater can’t be fixed until tomorrow, and the kids are always delighted to have the attention of someone else (someone else who isn’t tired of their nonsense).

Reading:
A Little Life – Hanya Yanagihara
I’ve been waffling over reading this book for a few months now, but have decided that with just two weeks (or less) to go in the year, I would just take a stab at it!
I’m also dabbling with the lovely short stories about the Filipino diaspora in Mia Alvar’s In the Country: Stories
Watching:
Peppa Pig – haha! Well, at least the kids are watching it while I’m typing this. Yes, I’m typing this on a Monday because I’ve not been on a computer for the weekend.
But I have watched A Very Murray Christmas and it was rather amusing!
Listening:
Christmas music on Spotify.
Eating:
This bowl of chocolate-y goodness from Taiwanese bakery 85C
Drinking:
Nespresso
Cooking:
Well it’s just us for Christmas unlike previous years where my in-laws visited (they will be visiting for the boys’ birthdays in March and April), but I will still be making a ham for Christmas, along with some sides, probably oven-roasted brown butter Brussels sprouts, maybe some candied sweet potatoes and hasselback potatoes.
And tonight, some spaghetti carbonara.

A Little Life is next on my Booker list, although I think I might hope that you write something about it first before I knuckle down and commit!

I admit to being intimidated by A Little Life. It’s a chunkster that makes you weep like a baby. It’s a challenge I am not sure I am ready for right now. But maybe one day I will be in the right mood to pick it up.
