You know, I have been blogging for quite a long time now but this is the first time I’m taking part in BBAW! This was started by Amy (My Friend Amy) and the reins have now been handed over to Ana, Jenny, Heather, and Andi who are just doing an awesome job at it!
So here’s day one!
Introduce yourself by telling us about five books that represent you as a person or your interests/lifestyle.
The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye – Sonny Liew (my thoughts)
- comics / graphic novel lover
- (somewhat) anti-establishment (at least with regards to Singapore) – this book had its government-related funding pulled because of its content
The Earthsea Quartet – Ursula K Le Guin
One of my all-time favourite books ever since I was a teenager. Speaks also to my love of the fantasy genre.
Sous Chef – Michael Gibney
Might be a bit of a strange pick but I remember when reading this novel that it reflected a lot of what I felt like to be a new mum.
Our Endless Numbered Days – Claire Fuller
I picked this fifth book not because I know what it is like to live in the woods or anything that remotely has to do with the actual content of this story. But simply because, this book reflects that fact that I am a reader. I had this library book with me while I waited for several hours one weekday afternoon at the Social Security office. The hard plastic seats, the people next to me, the horrendous sound system announcing the next number, I could forget all that because I had a book with me.
