It’s Monday and I’m reading Gold Fame Citrus

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. This meme started with J Kaye’s Blog   and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date

A Friday visit to the library and a light drizzle!

Some lovely asparagus made the husband think of risotto. So I made that on Thursday night.

Whee! We have had a gloriously rainy weekend! February was ridiculously dry so it was so good to hear the rain (and some really gusty winds) splattering on the windows again. But that also meant that the kids were kind of cooped up indoors for most of the weekend. And it didn’t help that the husband had to work (from home but still). So by Saturday evening I was going a bit crazy myself and decided some emergency brownies were in order. The kind that you whip up real quick (zap butter and chocolate in microwave, add eggs, vanilla, salt, flour, stir, pour into pan and bake) then stuff in the fridge for a nice cold slice of brownie to drink with some Pinot noir while watching a trashy show (in my case, Greys Anatomy).

The Temple of my Familiar – Alice Walker (on Scribd)

Gold Fame Citrus – Claire Vaye Watkins

Greys Anatomy

Brownie of course

Noodles and dumplings

Oven-roasted Brussels sprouts. Maybe with sausages and potatoes.

Stirfried dou miao, maybe chicken rice with that

The longlist for the Baileys Women’s Prize for fiction will be announced next week! Here are some predictions and wish lists:  Nomad Reader; A Life in Books; The Writes of Women

Contemporary Cuban lit (Lit Hub)

I love these hilarious library signs (Book Bub). My favourite may just have been the Stephenie Meyer book drop sign.

Last week:

I read:

Saga Vol 5 – Brian K. Vaughan, Fiona Staples (Illustrator)
Spike Vol 1: Alone together now – Brian Lynch
Spike Vol 2 – Brian Lynch
Homeland Directive – Robert Venditti (Writer), Mike Huddleston (Artist)
Fishtown – Kevin Colden
The Last Broadcast – Andre Sirangelo, Gabriel Iumazark
Memoirs of a Porcupine – Alain Mabanckou

(All via Scribd, except Saga. And to be honest, I read ALL the Angel comics on Scribd)

I posted:

February Wrap-up

Ten Books To Read If You Are In The Mood For Weird

Weekend Cooking: one-pot one-pan meals

  1. I am glad I found your blog because before it was only Instagram (and that was recent, too) and you know, I need more recommendations because I was running out of things to read. lol I am basically just trying to read as much on Scribd as possible before the rules change so new things to look into!

    1. The worst thing is that they haven’t said the exact date this thing is going to happen and I fear that one day I will wake up and find I can only three books
