Phew! The weekend was kinda exhausting! How was yours?
It started early for me on Saturday when I woke at 430am for my 5am start time for the Dewey’s 24 hour readathon! This was the first time I was up before the start time! I read a comic in bed, then managed to read a couple more (with interruptions from kids waking up and having to be fed breakfast – how demanding! – in between) before I had to start preparing for the birthday party. My kids’ birthdays are in March and April so we held a joint one as we have for the past three years. We had a few friends over, the kids have grown up together and it’s always nice to see them playing together!
We also tried a new restaurant in our city, with xiaolongbao. My five-year-old has a recent love for xiaolongbao and happily gobbled some up.
On Sunday, my two-year-old became a three-year-old! He’s small-sized so he always seems so young! He’s a train guy so as his birthday treat we went on a train ride on the Niles Canyon Railway.

Looks like you managed to ead a bunch despite the party and everything! Also, yay for party leftovers!
I really like the look of Mayumi and The Paper Menagerie. Happy reading 🙂

Mayumi has such a cheerful cover so I wasn’t expecting a bit of melancholic book!

Looks like your kids had a great party!
A train trip is such a great idea. We did it with D, for a Christmas themed ride with Santa. We haven’t tried it with BG yet. Maybe this year!

The railway also does a Christmas ride but we’ve not gone for one yet as it was a bit late for the younger one. Maybe this year!

Sambal is one of several things that I miss about Singaporean food. I always smuggle a few jars of sambal ikan bilis back from Singapore and try to make them last as long as possible when I’m in Brussels (whichever is tough to do!)

Yes that’s one thing about living overseas! Having to smuggle in food! hahaha!
