It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. This meme started with J Kaye’s Blog   and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date

A post I put up on Litsy for my book photo challenge last month – maps in books

My kids have suddenly developed a love for steamed pomfret. The fish here is a bit different from the ones in Singapore but as tasty I think. In the supermarket it’s called “pompano” and this is the yellow or golden pompano. There are also white or black ones. But those are considerably more expensive.

It’s rubbed with salt and pepper inside and outside. Sliced ginger, pickled plums, fresh cilantro are placed inside the cavity and around the fish. A bit of soy sauce is poured around and the whole dish is steamed.

(I wrote a good chunk of this post on Saturday but on Sunday woke up with a massive migraine that had me lying in bed until 830am. To me, that’s a very late start to the day! The husband took the kids out for lunch with their grandma so I had some peace to lie on the couch and rest for a good part of the late morning.)

Watching:

Sing! China

Eating:

First, breakfast at our regular diner

Then lunch at our favourite Korean restaurant. Bulgogi, dumpling soup, seafood tofu soup and spicy chicken wings. And of course all the little dishes. We really like those little konyaku cubes on the bottom left with a spicy sauce. The kids like the sweet potato noodles and the braised potatoes. You really can just make a meal out of the banchan!

Drinking:

Barley tea

Cooking:

Assam pedas or a sour-spicy fish stew with tamarind. Of course the kids won’t eat it but we will figure out something else for them.
