His books were my first foray into the world of food writing. It was loud and purposeful, it was adventurous and a little bit crazy, but a good kind of crazy, an “I love the world and all that it encompasses” kind of crazy. His willingness to try almost everything and embrace the colorfulness and all the tastes of the world was inspirational.
I am heartbroken.
*hug* I’m sorry, hon. I’m not super familiar with his work, but I’ve seen so many people grieve his brilliance and generosity. I know it’ll be a real loss.

I am so sad. I’ve been a big fan for years now. He was so humble when people invited him into their homes and shared their food with him. He truly portrayed the world as a place where people shouldn’t be afraid to explore and talk to one another – he showed the people everywhere are more alike than they are different, but he also celebrated the differences. It’s a huge loss for humanity, in my opinion.
