This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is:
Books I recently Did Not Finish (DNF)
The Adventures of Barry & Joe – Adam Reid
I really wanted to like this one – and I did, parts of it. I guess I thought this was a comic, and while parts of it was, there was a lot of text-only pages that didn’t feel as strong (or as interesting). Which is a pity, because look at that cover! It promises so much.
The Sweetest Fruits by Monique Truong
It is with great sadness that I add this book to my DNF list. And it is entirely the fault of the pandemic. Yup, I went there. I had borrowed this before the shelter-in-place and I gave it a try. I really did, especially since I LOVED Truong’s Bitter in the Mouth (my review). But my reading mood has changed. In the early days of the shelter-in-place, I was fraught with anxiety, didn’t read much. And as I slowly got back into reading, it was comic books and graphic novels, also some romance and YA. I haven’t delved back into this book yet – the library is closed until an unknown date, and library book due dates have been extended until July. So who knows, I might pick this book up again and give it another try. I have high hopes for it, as I think that Truong writes beautifully. But for now, it is a DNRS (Did Not Really Start).
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.
Wow, you had a short list! Do you find that you don’t DNF books very often?

I know the pandemic has changed a lot of people’s tastes, at least temporarily. I’ve definitely been gravitating toward lighter, happier books since this whole thing started.
Happy TTT!
