I was meant to concentrate on Southeast Asian titles in August but ending up reading all sorts of other fiction, from children’s books to historical fiction to crime/mystery novels. A good time was had as I wandered through Paris, Cambridge, Portland, Macedonia, Cornwall. And of course, plenty of Southeast Asia too – Singapore, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos!
So I finished up my month of reading Southeast Asia with 6 titles down. And two more still in progress!
Up next: RIP VIII titles!

It seems like I read fewer books in July than in June. At first I thought it might be because I read more non-fiction, but then I realised that I read five non-fiction books last month, and this month was just four. So erm, I have no excuse, but I resolve to work harder in August! And in case you’re interested, I’m focusing on Southeast Asian books (fiction and non-fiction) in August. I’d love for you to join me, or to recommend your favourite Southeast Asian reads!
July was a great month. I turned a year older (that part not so great!), dined at the unforgettable French Laundry, the baby turned three months old and discovered that his hands make good pacifiers (‘chicken drumsticks’ my mother-in-law calls them) and is also becoming such a smiley little thing, happy to ‘chat’ with anyone who catches his eye, plus, I read some amazing books.
